BY HAND

Sketches can range from a thought on paper while we talk to a more finished sketch to give you a sense of material and scale. I believe in working with multiple mediums to help the client see their project. Hand drawings, computer drawings, renderings and image boards. Sketching is the way all drawings begin for me. I want the client and myself to be able to sit together and sketch and test ideas. A sketch is the moment a design a starts to take shape and the collaborative aspect of design.

The first sketch is started with a site, a survey, a program, and a meeting to discuss the clients needs.

We then program adjacencies and site relationships.

A sketch becomes a floorplan. Sometimes it takes multiple iterations to come up with a plan. We test multiple options to make sure we have it right.

Plans and elevations work hand in hand. As the plan gets developed, the exterior elevations and interior elevations take form.
BY COMPUTER
This project was a first floor renovation project which includes a kitchen, bath and first floor layout. We also designed a new addition to include a mudroom, laundry room and powder room. As-builts were developed for the existing home and after sketches were completed, the information was developed further in the computer.

The lighter lines in this sketch show the existing home and darker lines show the new work.

Computer software helps understand the relationship to the existing home.
